Howard Stern Schools The Left On Gun Control

Howard Stern

Howard Stern may be vulgar sometimes but when he’s talking about gun control he makes a lot of sense. In the wake of the Orlando terror attack and the left’s outright assault on the Second Amendment, Stern spoke out.

The Federalist reports:

Howard Stern Just Dropped A Lot Of Truth About Gun Control

Howard Stern said the call for increased gun control in the wake of the Orlando attack is ridiculous, because gun control won’t stop the bad guys from hurting people.

Restricting access to guns is a bad idea, as firearms put the good guys on equal footing with the bad ones, he said.

“Do you want a fighting chance or not?” he asked during Wednesday’s episode of “The Howard Stern Show.”

Using an analogy from the movie “American Sniper,” he explained that most people behave like sheep because they deny the existence of evil and as a result can’t protect themselves. The police and military serve as sheep dogs to protect the sheep from the wolves, he said.

Stern continued, according to The Daily Caller:

‘The most gun-free zone on the planet is a plane. On 9/11, what did the wolves do? They said, ‘This is great. We’ll just kill the sheep with boxcutters.’ So they went on the plane with boxcutters and all the sheep went, ‘Baaaa.’

‘The wolves are always planning. They’ll use boxcutters. They’ll use an airplane fly it right into a building. They don’t need AR-15s.

‘I don’t like violence — I don’t like any of this stuff — but I consider myself a sheep. Most of your politicians have private security, so they’re OK. Those are sheep that are very well protected. You, on the other hand, are a sitting duck.

‘I’m not for taking away people’s rights.’

Amen, Howard. Amen.

Look at how most people act and vote. In all honestly, the more sheep that are culled serves to thin the herd, which benefits us all.

Reality: many progressives are gun owners. Most NRA members agree with sensible gun control. a pollster found a majority of gun-owners (both NRA members and non-members) are not opposed to some common sense rules regarding firearms. The pollster is Frank Luntz (who commonly does polling for the Republican Party). His survey included both NRA members and gun owners who are not in the NRA, and here are some of the results he found (with the percentages shown being those in favor):
      BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR GUN OWNERS.NRA……………74%
non-NRA……………87% BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR GUN SHOP EMPLOYEES. NRA……………79% non-NRA……………80% PROHIBIT TERRORIST WATCH LIST MEMBERS FROM BUYING GUNS.
NRA……………71% non-NRA……………80% MANDATE GUN OWNERS TO TELL POLICE IF THEIR GUN IS STOLEN. NRA……………64% non-NRA……………71% CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS SHOULD BE GIVEN ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED A SAFETY TRAINING COURSE. NRA……………74% non-NRA……………84% CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS SHOULD BE GIVEN ONLY TO THOSE 21 OR OLDER.
NRA……………63% non-NRA……………74% CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH VIOLENT MISDEMEANORS. NRA……………75% non-NRA……………81% CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN TO THOSE ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. NRA……………68% non-NRA……………78% It seems that a majority of gun owners (whether in the NRA or not) agree with these common sense rules. Unfortunately, the NRA leadership does not. They even came out against the proposal to keep guns out of the hands of those on the terrorist watch list. The NRA has a lot of murky ties to the gun industry it’s not a coincidence that an organization that’s trying to keep it easy to buy guns receives millions of dollars from companies that make guns. It’s like how climate change “skeptics” are funded by huge polluters. Oh, and the NRA’s lawyers moonlight as lawyers for gun manufacturers … because what’s shady about that? That includes cases where gun owners are injured or killed by defective guns and ammo. Time and again, the NRA has heroically lobbied to limit the ability of consumers to file claims, while also somehow arguing that holding manufacturers liable was bad for gun owners. So the NRA represents gun owners, unless a gun backfires and blows their eyebrows off then they’re on their own. So remember while the NRA is arguing that Obama is going to pull a Hitler and take away everyone’s guns, while also arguing that we need guns because the government is too incompetent to protect us after natural disasters, there are millions of rational, responsible gun owners out there who would be perfectly willing to sit down and have a reasonable conversation about firearms. It’s just that while they’re trying to talk, the NRA is screaming over them.
74% of NRA funding comes from gun manufacturers not members. The NRA shills represent the arms industry and the members of the NRA are being used. And that NRA membership is a JOKE given that the only restriction is that a person must have a credit or debit card to pay dues. None other exist which is why a great many of its members know they ALREADY LOST THEIR LEGAL RIGHT TO OWN A GUN, and think acting like they are an out open member of the NRA they have nothing to hide. NRA President Wayne LaPierre says that ‘those with mental health problems should not be allowed to own a gun.” MEANWHILE NRA President Wayne LaPierre:Declared unfit for service in Vietnam because he had a history of mental illness. NRA Director Ted Nugent: Ruled mentally unfit to serve in U.S. Army.

With all them glorious words, you are identified as an activist. With the tone, a radical activist. You want “sensible gun control”, that’s 45 out of 50 at 100 yards offhand.

Those who require a high capacity penis replacement always act like their Second Amendment rights kick in when their First Amendment talents fail and that other people have no rights. One in three Americans say they know a friend or relative who has been a victim of gun violence. A recent HuffPost/YouGov poll found that 22 percent of Americans say they know someone who was fatally shot by someone else, with an additional 29 percent saying they know someone who committed suicide using a gun. These are shocking numbers, considering the stakes. And sadly, an ever-growing cross section of communities can imagine their schools, their workplaces, their places of worship, their movie theaters, and now their nightclubs being attacked.
This is the reality that could create critical mass of voters who not only prioritize gun safety but become single-issue voters on the matter. And at some point, the United States could reach a political tipping point on gun safety, just like it did on same-sex marriage. It happened in rugged Australia, so don’t think it can not happen in America.

That poll is such crap. You are an idiot. Most of the gun violence is in the inner city.

So you actually think gun control will stop these places from being attacked. I wish I lived in your fantasyland. If ever ever happen to be in that situation I want to at least have a chance not cower and pee my pants.

If is not ok to think all muslims are terrorists, why is it ok to think all gun owners are murderers?

Really, Howard? Best not to ignorantly opine upon subjects you know nothing about it.

If restricting access to guns “doesn’t work”, why, then, is the rate of violent gun deaths 0.23/100,000 population in the United Kingdom and 10.54/100,000 in the United States?

Our rate is 50 times higher than England’s on a per capita basis. Why? You figure it out. I’d love to hear what the explanation could be other than far more restricted access to guns.
