idea-of-communismFrom KRQE:

“Our students are in the International Baccalaureate program, so they are very academically focused,” said Sam Obenshain, executive director at Cottonwood. “One of the classes they enjoy the most is a world history class.”

“They wanted prom-munism, so that’s what got voted for the most,” said senior Sarah Zachary.

“We have a lot of jokesters in our grade, so they wanted it to be funny and a lot of them are really intense with politics,” Zachary said.

However, students who asked to remain anonymous don’t believe Communism is a joking matter.

“I would hope Cottonwood would realize the seriousness of having a very powerful and destructive idea as the theme for a prom,” one student wrote.

U.C. Irvine Bans American Flag (UPDATED!)

ucirvine_00University of California, Irvine has banned the American flag in “inclusive” spaces. Portions of the official resolution read:

Whereas flags not only serve as symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism, but also construct cultural mythologies and narratives that in turn charge nationalistic sentiments.

Whereas the American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism.

Whereas symbolism has negative and positive aspects that are interpreted differently by individuals.

Whereas designing a culturally inclusive space is taken seriously by ASUCI

Whereas the removal of barriers is the best option at promoting an inclusive space.

Whereas it is a psychological effect for individuals to identify negative aspects of a space rather than positive ones.

Whereas freedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible can be interpreted as hate speech.

Let it be resolved that ASUCI make every effort to make the Associated Students main lobby space as inclusive as possible.

Let it further be resolved that no flag, of any nation, may be hanged on the walls of the Associate Student main lobby space.

Let it be further be resolved that if a decorative item is in the Associate student lobby space and issues arise, the solution will be to remove the item if there is considerable request to do so.

The wackjobs were back at it again at PSU, where the Northwest Regional Animal Liberation Forum took place on Feb. 7th.

Among the sponsoring groups were Student Animal Liberation Coalition, Portland Vegans Of Color, Resistance Ecology, Portland Animal Liberation, No New Animal Lab, Cascadia Animal Rights Alliance, Civil Liberties Defense Center, Portland Animal Welfare Advocates, Vancouver Animal Defense League, Free The Oregon Zoo Elephants, and Wildlife Defense League.

Presentation workshops included Anti-Oppression Training, Vegans Of Color Only Discussion Space (see video below of non-colored person ejected), Know Your Rights & Security Culture Basics, and Researching Targets. Also included in the program was a map of the “gender neutral” bathrooms in the area. After the forum they put a plan into action to protest at the home of a Skanska executive. Skanska is the construction company that has been contracted to build a new animal lab at the University Of Washington.

Videographer Daylight Disinfectant was on hand for some of the forum, and brings us these videos:

A cow character in one of the Power Point presentations asks “Who has more social power than you?”

This presenter poses the question “What kind of an asshole would eat a lamb?”

And here are the “all-inclusive” revolutionaries ejecting someone based on race from the “Vegans Of Color” presentation at a public event on a public university campus.

Activist Says Too Many Privileged White Males In LGBTQ+ Movement

6a00d8341c730253ef016765a192a6970b-800wiUniversity of Houston student Laura Gillespie has penned an article in the student newspaper, The Daily Cougar, lamenting the prominence of white males in the LGBTQ+ groups.

She says “There’s a fundamental problem in the way that people look at the LGBT community. People focus on white, gay men, as they focus on white, straight men in every other community. But the LGBT community does itself no favors, as it continues to display racist, transphobic and misogynistic behaviors, as well as push white gay men into the forefront because it is safe to do so.”

Later, she writes “The debate quickly becomes about privilege, as it so often does when discussing race and gender. People with privilege rarely like to talk about it, least of all admit to it. The gay community is only beginning its crawl toward general acceptance, but it often forgets that those without benefit of white or male privilege still suffer heavily.

Teen Sex Conference Teaches Kids To Do Meth

sex-conference-sign-11172014The Adolescent Sexuality Conference is held each April in Seaside, Oregon. The theme for the 2014 edition was “Building Blocks of Youth Sexual Health”, and they say about 25% of the attendees are youths. Their webpage says the conference “is for educators, health personnel, administrators, counselors, social and youth service workers, parents, clergy, teen parent program staff, teens, community members and others who wish to increase their knowledge and skills in addressing adolescent sexuality issues.  Emphasis is on covering a wide spectrum of adolescent sexuality topics.”Screen Shot 2015-02-16 at 10.59.00 PM

One of the primary sponsors and presenters of the conference is the Cascade AIDS Project, which has published several pamphlets for the event. One such pamphlet is called “A Young Males Guide To… An informative zine for guys who like guys“, and though they claim this is intended for those over 18, it is littered with little drawings that appeal more to a 9 year old than a 19 year old.

In this pamphlet, they refer to the mouth as an “oral cavity” and offer tips on oral sex and prostate stimulation. They also suggest trying to “dress each other”, go skinny dipping, build a fort, sit on the washing machine together, look at porn or stars (?). Odd things for a couple over the age of 18 to do.

Of course they refer to STDs as “STIs”, because saying “disease” is offensive and “infection” is somehow not.

Towards the end of the pamphlet is a page on crystal meth. Besides the topic of the substance itself, it’s odd because there are no other drugs mentioned in the publication. On this page, they talk about how to do meth and the forms it comes in. They paint meth out to be a good thing by saying “Meth is widely used for a million reasons… desire to have lots of sex with lots of partners, for long periods. Ability to dance for hours and hours. It’s cheap. The high lasts a while.” For the risk reduction portion, they say “Don’t overdo it… Watch your intake; Don’t share works (needles, tuters); Eat. Drink water; Sleep. Allow your body to recover; Don’t hesitate to get help; Listen to what your body is telling you.

What’s shockingly missing from their advice is, you know, DON’T DO METH IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Communist Black Panther Gives MLK Week Keynote At PSU

10940545_10153061311788872_1487052088483149498_nPortland State University recently hosted Angela Davis, a renowned Black Panther and former 2 time Communist Party USA nominee for Vice President. Ms. Davis had the honor of giving the keynote address during the university’s MLK Week.

In a video posted by LaughingAtLiberals, her speech including sympathizing with the Charlie Hebdo shooters by saying “It is so sad to see that the use of the term “terrorist”, which reminds me of the way communist used to be used, spreads such fear in people’s hearts…To ask questions about those young men who did that horrible thing in Paris. But what kind of lives were they living? No one talks about the conditions under which they live, in the ghettos surrounding Paris. People don’t like to talk about French racism. Seems to me like we have to be willing to look at the entire story and not simply use the word “terrorism.”

She goes on to say “We have a serious problem with gun violence in this country… So I think we really should disarm everyone. That also means disarming the police.”

Ms. Davis was an active Black Panther in the 1960’s and 70’s, and was once on the FBI’s top 10 Most Wanted list for her role in supplying guns that were used in a Marin County court room hostage situation. She was eventually acquitted of all charges.

In 1979, the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union awarded her the “Lenin Peace Prize“, and she was invited to Moscow to accept the award.

This isn’t the first time Ms. Davis has created controversy at a university. Just last year UCLA students were in an uproar over her inclusion in a “We, The Optimists” campaign.

Portland Teachers Given Credit for Watching Racist “WHITELANDIA” Film

10565179_1509891702562272_6966560993117846666_nTeachers get credit for watching the new documentary “Whitelandia“, which explores the “history of state sanctioned discrimination against Black Americans in Oregon and how that discrimination continues to be a destructive force today. The film leaves us to speculate whether Oregon’s original goal of establishing a white homeland may well be close at hand.”

Producers Matt Zodrow and Tracy MacDonald held a forum regarding the film in Portland on January 22nd, 2015, at an event held at the Portland Public Schools (PPS) building. Citizen journalist Daylight Disinfectant was there to document the discussion surrounding the gala, and was harassed by one Lolenzo Poe, who is the “chief equity officer” for PPS. There was some objection over the fact that the event was being filmed. Eventually Mr. Po and the others realized it was a public event in a public building, and they could not stop someone from filming it.

vlcsnap-2015-01-25-15h08m43s174The panel discussion featured such quotes as “Hey White People, sit with this discomfort of holding this privilege and power because you do” from MacDonald. Dr. Calvin Henry says that “The education system was not truly designed for black Americans. It’s to hold us in a place where we should not gain very much.” and refers to the “White Republican party“. Carolyn Leonard, retired PPS admin is concerned that there apparently aren’t enough black crane operators in Portland.

Turns out there has been a lot more controversy surrounding the film, as several of the area’s black leaders refused to take part in it, due to the producers using footage from YouTube without consent of Walidah Imarisha. Nonetheless, black leaders such as JoAnn Hardesty took part in it. Ms. Hardesty was one of the protest organizers during the area’s Trayvon Martin protests and marches. School teacher and devout marxist Mic Crenshaw is also featured in the film. Mr. Crenshaw performs hip hop as well, and such lyrics include “I’m goin’ in, like a shank to the pancreas” while saying “We need to get passed capital and private property” and encourages people to “occupy property and block the streets.”

You Won’t Believe The Petition These George Washington University Students Sign…

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 1.35.21 AMVia Maggie Lit at Campus Reform:

“Students at George Washington University (GWU) willingly signed a petition supporting the deportation of one American citizen in exchange for one illegal immigrant.

“It makes sense,” one student told Campus Reform. “Like, I’ve noticed that there is a lot of like hatred against undocumented immigrants and it’s not necessarily their fault.”

“If somebody were to sign up for this program and they were going to go through all the effort to become this one undocumented immigrant than I think that’s enough will power and enough desire, they should be able to come in,” she said.

VIDEO: Anarchist Organizer Reveals WTO Riot Tactics

Screen Shot 2014-12-20 at 1.08.59 AM

Lisa Fithian, collective anarchist organizer.

Portland State University hosted well known AnCom community organizer Lisa Fithian on Feb. 17th, 2014. The event was entitled “Building Our Power: Organizing For The Long Haul“,  presented by the PSU Student Union and the group Students For Unity.

The program centered around direct action, which is sometimes referred to “non violent direct action” (*wink wink*, yeah right), and Miss Fithian went over numerous tactics that she has developed and employed over the years.

One such successful strategy was the way the 1999 Seattle WTO protests/riots were staged. Seattle was divided into “spokes” on a map, and several different “affinity groups” took responsibility for organizing their own protest in each spokes area, separate from every other group. No one knew what any other group had planned, all they knew is that ever sector of the city would have an action of some sort taking place. This made it impossible for police to find out exactly what was going to happen, because there was no master plan.

In the video, posted on YouTube by LaughingAtLiberals, Miss Fithian goes on to explain how they also had roving groups of people who could add bodies to any spokes area when needed.

From the Facebook event page:

Lisa Fithian has been working for nonviolent social change since the mid-1970’s. Over the years she has been a student, labor and community organizer on a broad range of issues. From environmental justice to student and worker rights, from peace and global justice to immigration and housing, Lisa continues to use a wide range of strategies and tactics and encouraged nonviolent direct action as one of the most effective strategies for change. Most recently, Lisa trained hundreds of people on facilitation, group process, consensus decision-making, and direct action during Occupy, and was instrumental in helping OWS take the horizontal shape that it did.

Lisa will be speaking about her experiences working in coalitions, how to build unity between diverse groups organizing for power together, and building durable, non-oppressive structures for that empowerment.“

Miss Lisa Fithian has also been seen in a video from the Chicago Teachers Union strike, orchestrating who is going to get arrested at a demo. Fithian was also caught calling conservative journalists “violent” at trainings for the #Ferguson protests.
